Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 October 2026.
Overview
This policy explains how SILVERWIZ LLC handles information when you use the MoneyWiz website, apps and related services. The information processed depends on the features and services you choose, including local storage, cloud sync, bank connections, support and optional AI features.
Long privacy policies make it look as if the company has something to hide. However, for legal reasons, we have to provide a certain amount of information. Just like everyone, we hate long and boring legalese language. So we'll be upfront and say this: we're NOT in business of selling your data or creating a financial profile of you. We support our business with the money you are paying us. You are our customer, not our product.
Still, we are legally bound to provide more detailed information about how your data is processed, which is why we are sharing the policy below.
Privacy questions and requests
The following document outlines how your data is stored, transmitted and handled. You have the right to request that we delete the data we have about your account as well as contact the various partners we work with to ask them to delete your data as well. If you want us to delete the data we store for you or have a question that's not answered to your satisfaction with our Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].
The use of your data
MoneyWiz Website
The public MoneyWiz website provides product information and demonstrations using fictional data. Following a link to an app store, payment service, help center or other external service takes you to that service and its own privacy information.
The website saves your selected appearance and accessibility preferences in your browser's local storage so those settings can be applied on later visits. You can change the settings using the website controls or remove the saved preferences by clearing this site's browser storage.
The website loads the Reso support widget, including its configuration, from Reso. The widget uses browser local storage to remember a support visitor token. For a returning visitor, it can restore the existing conversation before the chat panel is opened. Support sessions include the page address; messages can include your text, attachments, name and email when supplied, language settings and time zone. We use this information to provide support and maintain the conversation. See Customer Support below.
MoneyWiz Apps
MoneyWiz is designed to save your aggregated financial data on your device (mobile or desktop) locally, so that you can access it, even if you are offline. Protecting your local data (as for any other software application installed on your device) is in your own hands. Consider protecting your device with a passcode as well as using services that allow you to erase the data from your device in case it gets lost or stolen. As an additional measure, we've provided an optional PIN protection (and Touch ID/Face ID protection, for Touch ID/Face ID enabled devices), that you can enable to protect only the data inside MoneyWiz. Available security controls depend on your device and app version. Review the options in the app. Automatic erasure after failed PIN attempts is not available for shared databases.
Due to how local storage works on different platforms, in some cases removing MoneyWiz is not sufficient to remove local data. If you want to be sure that your MoneyWiz data is removed from a device, please perform steps outlined here.
iCloud sync and database sharing
When you use iCloud Sync, MoneyWiz stores and exchanges database information through Apple's iCloud services to make it available on your devices. This is separate from the legacy MoneyWiz Cloud / SYNCbits service. Your Apple Account and iCloud settings determine the iCloud account used. Please also read Apple's privacy information.
If you share a MoneyWiz database, the people you invite receive full access to view and edit the selected database. This includes its accounts and transactions, settings, PIN and access to connected bank accounts. Sharing is not view-only. Only share with people you trust, and read the notice in the app before sending an invitation. Other databases are not included in that invitation.
WizAI, the optional assistant inside MoneyWiz
Where your app version offers WizAI, it asks for your permission on each device before sending questions and financial information through MoneyWiz’s service to OpenAI. To answer and check a request, the service can send your questions, relevant conversation context and financial results requested during the conversation. These can include account names, balances, amounts, dates, payees, categories, notes, transactions, investments, budgets and scheduled payments. This may include information in a database another person has shared with you. Consider those people’s privacy and your authority to use their information before using it with AI.
Requests can also include app context, such as language and time zone. MoneyWiz processes your billing account, purchases and usage records to provide the service and manage AI credits. OpenAI can receive a derived account or installation identifier for safety purposes. A request can be sent for a safety check even if the answering model does not answer it.
You can withdraw permission on a device using Stop Sending My Data. This stops new sends under that permission and asks current work to stop, but cannot recall information already sent. Permission on other devices is separate. Withdrawing permission does not itself delete saved chats or information already processed by MoneyWiz’s service or OpenAI.
Saved chats can contain questions, answers and financial charts. They use your iCloud Drive when it is available to MoneyWiz, separately from the sync service used for the financial database. If iCloud is unavailable, chats are saved on the device and may move to the same iCloud account when it becomes available. Chats are associated with the financial database they discuss; this does not automatically share your chats with everyone who shares that database. Demo chats stay on the device.
MoneyWiz temporarily keeps an encrypted service copy of successful AI replies so interrupted downloads can be recovered. The active copy is cleared when the app acknowledges saving it. Otherwise, recovery is available for up to seven days after the reply completes. Expired active copies are removed by an hourly cleanup job; failures and delays are monitored and retried. An expired reply that was not saved on your device cannot be recovered from this service, and expiry does not automatically generate or charge for another answer. Billing and credit records have a separate purpose and are not deleted with the reply.
Deleting a chat in the app and withdrawing AI permission are separate from a request to delete information held by our service. Local or iCloud recovery files and customer-managed backups can have separate lifetimes. For service access or deletion requests, contact [email protected].
OpenAI processes API information under its business-service terms. We have not opted into the organization’s optional API input/output sharing programs. This is not a promise of zero retention: provider safety, security and legal retention can apply independently of MoneyWiz’s reply-recovery period. Read OpenAI’s business data privacy information and API data controls.
Connections to external AI apps on Mac
Mac AI Connections is separate from WizAI. If you connect a compatible external app, it can request financial information from the database open in MoneyWiz. The external app and any AI provider it uses handle the information under their own terms and settings. Review those before connecting. Disconnecting a tool in MoneyWiz stops that connection; it does not delete information the external service has already received.
MoneyWiz Cloud / SYNCbits
By using the SYNCbits service you consent to SilverWiz processing your data for the purpose of providing you SYNCbits syncing service.
SYNCbits service will process the following information:
- the e-mail address supplied as the SYNCbits login,
- any information entered into MoneyWiz and/or MileWiz application on any platform that you have signed into your SYNCbits account in.
SYNCbits service will process the information above for the following reasons:
- the e-mail address supplied as the SYNCbits login - as an unique identifier of your SYNCbits account, enabling basic functionality (allowing you to sign in and use the service),
- the e-mail address supplied as the SYNCbits login - if you requested, to send you occasional e-mail newsletter (more on this matter further below).
- any information entered into MoneyWiz and/or MileWiz application on any platform that you have signed into your SYNCbits account in - this information will be uploaded (encrypted) to the SYNCbits server from where other devices can download this information. This process enables you to sync your MoneyWiz and MileWiz information among all devices you own and keep your devices synchronized.
The above reasons are necessary for us to provide you with SYNCbits functionality which is to allow you to sync your MoneyWiz/MileWiz data among your devices. The above are THE ONLY reasons for using the data supplied to SYNCbits service. It WILL NOT be used for actions such as selling to third-parties, advertising, profiling, etc.
Legacy SYNCbits accounts have a separate account and data lifecycle. Contact us to request account closure or deletion; do not assume that inactivity deletes your iCloud databases, AI chats, support messages or billing records.
SYNCbits stores synchronized data on servers in the United States. Depending on where you live, using this service can transfer information outside your country or region. You have the right for a copy of your data. Should you wish to obtain a copy of the information that SYNCbits server has on you, please use MoneyWiz to export a CSV file that includes your information. CSV (Comma-separated value) files are widely recognized format that can be opened and imported by many applications. If you wish to delete your data from SYNCbits servers, please contact us and we'll assist you with this process. Agreeing to the data processing described above is required for basic SYNCbits service. If you do not agree, please do not use SYNCbits service. If you change your mind after agreeing, please contact us about deleting your SYNCbits account.
Our Internal Systems
We operate services for bank connections, billing, licensing, AI credits, support and security. Depending on the feature, they process contact or billing identifiers, purchase and entitlement information, bank connection tokens and metadata, device or installation identifiers, IP addresses and service activity. Bank and AI proxy requests can also pass financial information through our service to the relevant provider. The WizAI section explains its separate encrypted reply-recovery storage. We use this information to provide the features you request, honor purchases, investigate support requests, protect the service and meet applicable legal obligations.
Retention and deletion
We keep different types of information for different purposes. Active bank connection information is needed while the connection is used. Billing, licensing and credit records are kept as needed to honor purchases, maintain balances, resolve payment issues and meet applicable recordkeeping duties. Those records are separate from AI conversation content.
Selected security events are normally kept for 30 days to detect and investigate misuse. Some routine technical logs rotate on a three-day schedule. Raw host audit logs rotate by size, so their age can vary. Cloud administration audit records can have longer provider-set retention, including Google’s required audit bucket, which retains records for 400 days. We limit sensitive information in these logs; passwords, login codes and bank tokens are not intended security-log content.
Encrypted database logs and recovery backups have separate schedules. Routine WS database logs expire after seven days, and scheduled daily disk backups normally retain three days. Separate migration or recovery copies can remain until their recovery purpose has been reviewed. These periods do not promise that every copy disappears when an active record is removed.
For a verified deletion request, we identify the information and copies we control and explain the completed scope and any specific retention required by law. For covered Plaid-derived data, a convenient recovery or billing purpose alone is not a legal retention exception. Backup data awaiting removal is kept out of ordinary use, and deletion must be reapplied before a restored copy returns to service. Copies controlled by Apple, another provider, another database owner or your own backups can require separate action.
